Christmas market in Krakow in 2018 (dates and info)

Finally, the dates are here. We have been waiting for a long time for the official dates for the Christmas market in Krakow to arrive, but now they are here and you can start planning!

The grand opening of the Christmas market in Krakow will be on November 30th. That is a Friday, and it is one week later than many people thought, but it is still earlier than the opening of the Christmas markets in Prague.

The Christmas market will be open every day until December 26th, which is the last day of the Christmas market in 2018. It will open around 10.00 every morning, and be open for as long as there are crowds at the Main Market square in Krakow in the evenings. On December 24th, the Christmas market will close earlier so that the sellers can get home to their own families and celebrate Christmas in their homes.

Seven Poles during the German occupation

The Schindler Factory is a popular place to visit during trips to Krakow. They have a very interesting permanent exhibition, but they also have temporary exhibitions on display.

In the period between September 13th (2018) and July 7th (2019), you can check out their newest temporary exhibition which shows the lives of seven Poles during the German occupation. Have you ever wondered what life was like during the Nazi reign in Krakow and in Poland?

The seven people on display all took part in the Polish Home Army, the dominant resistance movement in Poland. The Home Army swore their allegiance to the Polish government in exile.

As you visit the exhibition, you will get a much closer experience and look at what life really was like during this period. Some of the topics covered are family upbringing and childhood, experiences from the beginning of the war, everyday occupation, emerging friendships, ideological approach to the fight for independence, service in the Home Army, horror resulting from the Gestapo arrest and the bestial interrogation, shorter/longer stays in the concentration camps, fighting in partisan units against the rulers, and unfortunately, the deaths of colleagues, friends and loved ones.

The exhibition will be held in the Oscar Schindler factory. The address of the factory is Lipowa 4 (ul), 30-702 Kraków.

SteemFest 2018

An average tourist coming to Krakow doesn’t know what Steem is, much less SteemFest. But, if you are a Steem enthusiast, this might be the highlight of the year in 2018.

SteemFest is an event in which people who use the Steemit platform come together to learn from one another and to broaden their networks. Steem is a cryptocurrency, and people who use the Steemit platform can earn Steem as they publish their blog posts, videos, and other creative content. But, Steemit is so much more than a standard blogging platform. This is a community in which the people get to know one another through following each other and commenting on the others content. And, if you really like the content published by other people you can upvote it, and thus help the creator earn Steem tokens, which can easily be converted to cash later if the user wants that.

SteemFest 2018 in Krakow

The first SteemFest was arranged in Amsterdam in 2016, then the fun continued in Lisbon in 2017, and now the time is ready for Krakow to host the event.

SteemFest 2018 dates: November 7th – November 11th

The main conference dates will be November 8th and 9th, but there will be programs on the rest of the days as well, so make sure to join in for the full package. You can buy tickets for the event at www.steemfest.com. Make sure to buy your tickets early, as the prices will rise as the event draws near.

Who will be at SteemFest 2018?

There will be lots of great people coming in for this event, including Steemit’s CEO (@NED). Besides him, you can also listen to and meet @oliviadejeu, @dollarvigilante, @joeparys, and of course the main organizer, @roelandp.

But, just as important is the chance to connect with other Steemians, to grow your network, and to meet up with people just as enthusiastic about Steemit as you are.

There will be touristic programs included in the SteemFest, so you do not have to worry, just join in on SteemFest, and you will get to discover Krakow as well! Among the recommended programs are the excursions to the Salt Mines and to Auschwitz, both must-see places during a trip to Krakow.
